Bag Filters Three basic types of media are used in the fabrication of filter bags. FELT: Felt is a non-woven composition of fibers which have the ability to trap particles of foreign material throughout the thickness of the media. This ability is called depth filtration. Felts are available in all fiber types. Thickness of the felt determines the dirt holding capacity of the bag. MONOFILAMENT MESH: Mesh materials, filter at the surface of the media. This material is analogous to wire mesh in appearance except that the filament in a single fiber. Monofilament mesh is characterized by its high strength, its ability to be cleaned, and by its consistent pore size. Micron ratings of 5 to 800 are available. MULTIFILAMENT MESH: The construction of this material is similar to the monofilament mesh described above. Each filament however, consists of many, smaller diameter fibers, twisted together. A multifilament mesh offers the advantage of being less costly. It is available in micron ranges from 100 to 800. The surface finish of a filter bag can be varied to suit the needs of the user. Standard finish bags consist of bags sewn from materials which have not been treated or covered. Filter bags can be provided with or without scrim supports. Singed finished bags have been treated by the momentary application of heat which melts the topmost fibers. Melting the top fibers causes these fibers to stick tightly to one another and significantly reduces the possibility of fiber shedding. Mesh covers on filter bags are used to prevent fiber shedding. Covers, which catch any shed fibers, are made from a variety of materials, the correct choice depends on the micron rating of the bag, and the type of fiber used in the manufacture of the filter bag. Threads used in the sewing of filter bags is made from the same material as the bag. Polyester bags are sewn with polypropylene threads. Nylon bags are sewn with nylon threads. All threads used by SABO in the manufacture of filter bags is silicone free. SABO does not allow silicone containing materials within the production facility. Filter bags are available in a variety of collar styles. Bags may be sewn around wire rings made of carbon steel, stainless steel, or high density polypropylene. Molded plastic collars (MPC) of varying shapes and materials are available to fit competitive housings. SABO also provides high efficiency filter bags at 10 and 25 micron ratings. High Efficiency filter bags provide a high degree of efficiency in the specific micron size at which the bag is rated. For example, a 10 micron bag will capture 95% of all particles 10 micron or larger at peak efficiency. This high percentage combined with consistent performance against a given micron particle provides a level of accuracy and reliability which cannot be found in conventional filter bags. High Efficiency filter bags are designed to fit virtually any OEM filter housing. Custom designed bags can be made to your specifications. In addition to water filtration, we also manufacture dust collection bags and custom tote bags. [ About Us ] [ What's New ] [ Contact Us ] [ E-mail Us ] Products
